Tangrams are very ancient puzzles thought to be Chinese in origin. The simplicity of 7 geometric pieces cut from a large square belies the the depth and number of images and characters that can be created. Tangrams are played on a flat surface. All seven pieces are used for every puzzle. The object is simple. Re-create the silhoutte image with the puzzle pieces. This smooth, light-toned wood set looks great on a coffee table. Includes brochure with over 100 challenges including numbers, geometric shapes, animals, people and everyday obejcts. Solutions included. Puzzle pieces sit in a wood frame with felt bottom. Outside dimensions are approximately 7 12 x 7 1/2 inches. Wood pieces are 3/4 inch thick.
