H & H Hanayama Cast Metal Puzzle has two very similar (but not identical) interlocking "H"-shaped pieces. The object of this puzzle is to separate the two pieces and then re-join them.
The pieces have precisely crafted grooves, openings and channels. It takes a minimum of 7 unique moves (twists and turns) to take it apart. There are many moves ending in dead ends.
H & H is the new 2010 release. It is one of dozens of small, compact, chunky metal brain teaser style puzzles in this series. The manufacturer rates it as a level 5 difficulty (on a scale where 1 is the easier puzzles and 6 the most difficult.) Ratings are subjective. Your experience may be different.
Hanayama Puzzles are generally designed for adults. However, inquisitive, patient youth ages 7 and older (who are not inclined to force puzzles) will find this to be a real exciting challenge.
The completed puzzle appears like a mini piece of sculpture. Takes up little space. Looks great on a coffee table, desk or bookshelf. Its unusual swirl-shape and bright chrome surface are very attractive. Puzzle measures approximately 1.8 inches tall.
